Jimmy Tran

Electronics & Development Engineer

Jimmy Tran has a passion for advanced technology and designing electronics devices from the ground up. He has been extensively involved in helping academic researchers in developing their prototypes for academic and commercial purposes since his undergraduate study at the University of Queensland (UQ). Additionally, his experience in industrial electronics design and manufacturing is also a valued addition to the NSSN and its members in developing current and potential future smart sensing projects.

Jimmy’s designs are centred on cost-effectiveness, manufacturability and being consumer-focus. He works closely with his clients to find the best solutions for them. Besides, his additional experience in software and mechanical designs allows his clients to fully complete their final design. Some of his best designs include a novel vibrotactile display in patient monitoring for the Cognitive Research Group (UQ); low-cost soil sensor and data-logger for the Geotechnical Engineering Group (UQ); and industrial tilt sensors and industrial IoT gateways for mining, construction and agriculture applications.

His motivation is to bring innovative technology to life meaningfully as his journey continues helping people realising their ideas for smart and better living.
