Simon Hunter

Currently working as Executive Director, Strategy and Planning at Infrastructure NSW, Simon leads the development of the NSW Government’s Smart Cities Strategy. Simon has spent more than 15 years working in the NSW government and consulting to government and industry.

Simon has an Executive Masters in Public Administration from the Australia and New Zealand School of Government (ANZSOG) and a BA/LLB. He has worked closely with the executive levels of the NSW and Australian governments as well as with local councils throughout his career.

In the NSW Government, Simon has worked in central agencies and been a leader in government strategic planning within Infrastructure NSW and Transport for NSW. Prior to re-joining the NSW Government in 2010 he was an Associate with Booz & Co. He has worked on major reforms including the establishment of Transport for NSW, the development of integrated electronic ticketing for public transport, acted as a sponsor for major projects and funding programs and has either led, or played senior roles in, the development of significant long term strategic plans including the 2018 State Infrastructure Strategy, Future Transport 2056, the 2013/14 Regional Transport Plans, and the 2012 NSW Long Term Transport Master Plan.
