Air Quality Sensing Research Workshop

Researchers, governments and communities concerned with the impact of poor air quality on health are increasingly using low-cost sensing devices and data analysis to obtain a better understanding of localised air quality issues.  Research into air quality, health, sensing, data fusion and analytics is underway to enable the full potential of these new technologies to be realised.

Although there is a significant amount of activity throughout Australia and some collaborations are in place, overall, the research community in Australia is somewhat fragmented.  We believe there are opportunities to collaborate on national scale, high-impact initiatives relating to air quality and sensing.

The NSW Smart Sensing Network, together with the University of Sydney, Queensland University of Technology and the NSW Department of Planning, Industry and the Environment have agreed to organise a half-day workshop to identify and explore these opportunities with the broader research community.

The workshop will feature a keynote address by Australia’s Chief Scientist, Dr Cathy Foley AO, alongside other distinguished speakers. The workshop will also include a panel discussion on national air quality issues and research, followed by a collaborative activity to design an initial collaboration framework and roadmap.

The workshop is by invitation only. If you are interested in participating, please email the NSSN: admin@nssn.org.au .
