Product Development 101 Workshop - University of Newcastle

  • University of Newcastle Level 2, Q Building 16B Honeysuckle Dr, Newcastle NSW 2300 Australia (map)

Are you a researcher, founder or student interested in translating your lab research into a commercial product?

Genesys Electronics Design in conjunction with the NSW Smart Sensing Network offers this educational workshop led by Genesys Co-CEO George Bou-Rizk and NSSN Electronics Engineer Kimi Izzo.

Learn how to turn your initial concept or lab prototype into a well-defined, robust proof-of-concept device, enabling a pathway towards mass manufacture and possible submission to the TGA/FDA (in the case of a medical device). You will be guided through the product development process, engineering best practice and technical/regulatory understanding, with learning supported by activities that reinforce the required optimised approach.

The seminar will touch on:

  • Developing design inputs.

  • The stages to prototyping – and how each one delivers value, from asserting the business proposition and attracting investment through to manufacturability.

  • The general process that a design house follows to bring ideas to life and the kind of things you need to be aware of to guarantee your best chance of success – pertinent to lead researchers/CI's and founders.

The seminar will be followed by a panel discussion with key industry representatives who will share their own experiences on the product development process.

The workshop will be followed by networking drinks and canapes at NSSN Sensing Industry Connect.
