NSSN welcomes three new Board Members
The NSSN is proud to announce the newest additions to its Board: Tara Croft, Ellen Gorissen, and Jeff Oatman.

Tara Croft has more than 20 years’ experience across MedTech and has built a career focused on translating innovative technologies into real-world impact. She is CEO of Baymatob, where she leads the development of a smart sensing and AI-enabled early warning system designed to improve maternal and foetal health outcomes.
Ms Croft previously played a pivotal role in the growth of Nanosonics, helping transform the company from an early-stage startup into an ASX200-listed global MedTech success story valued at more than $2.4 billion.
A passionate advocate for innovation and entrepreneurship, Tara has extensive experience building partnerships between researchers, industry, investors and government and has fostered the collaborations needed to bring emerging technologies to market.
Ms Croft serves on the BioNSW MedTech and MTAA Women in MedTech Committees, mentors technology founders and emerging leaders, and lectures in innovation, commercialisation and biomedical industry practice at the University of Technology Sydney, where she created the Biomedical Industry Frameworks course.
Ms Croft holds degrees in Electrical Engineering and Medical Science from UTS, an Executive MBA from UNSW’s Australian Graduate School of Management and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
In 2025, she was recognised as UTS Engineering Alumni of the Year.
Also joining the NSSN Board is Ellen Gorissen, a technology commercialisation leader and expert.

She has more than 25 years’ experience in strategy, business development, technology commercialisation and venture capital.
Ms Gorissen has held senior commercialisation, investment and advisory roles at Australia’s Economic Accelerator, IP Group Australia, HB11 Energy, CSIRO and ANSTO and is Co-Founder and Investor at Jovian Tech, a company developing advanced sensing technologies to support decarbonisation and the transition to renewable fuels.
Throughout her career, she has helped bring emerging technologies to market, raised significant early-stage capital, and worked across global corporations, government entities, research and development institutions, and start-up ecosystems.
Ms Gorissen has extensive governance experience, having served as a CSIRO Nominee Director on multiple technology spin-out company boards and as a member of the Uniseed Investment Committee.
She was recently appointed to the Research and Development Incentives Committee (RDIC), which operates under delegation from Industry Innovation and Science Australia.
A graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD), she holds an MBA from Melbourne Business School and a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering (Honours) from the University of Queensland.
The third new Board Member to join the NSSN is Jeff Oatman, a highly experienced industry leader with more than 20 years of experience building partnerships across industry, government and academia.

He currently serves as Chair of the Asia Pacific Regional Network for the World Green Building Council and Head of Collaboration and Membership at the Green Building Council of Australia, where he leads membership growth, stakeholder engagement and strategic collaboration.
Mr Oatman brings extensive board and governance experience, a strong track record in translating research and frameworks into real-world impact, and deep expertise in sustainability, net zero initiatives, data-driven building performance and international collaboration across the Asia-Pacific region.
He also teaches sustainable built environment subjects at the UNSW Sydney and has played a key role in advancing sustainable building standards and certification across Australia.
The new Board members replace outgoing Board members Dr Jill Freyne, who has been appointed Board Chair, Fiona Rankin, and Ian Oppermann.
