Dr Jill Freyne

Dr Jill Freyne is the Chair of the NSSN Board, a role she assumed in July 2026 after serving on the Board since 2021.

Jill is an experienced industry leader, bringing a wealth of expertise in strategic decision-making, innovation, and digital transformation. As the Healthcare Industry Lead at AWS Australia, Jill plays a pivotal role in driving technology adoption and fostering partnerships to advance the digital transformation of Australia’s healthcare sector.

Jill previously served as Deputy Chief Scientist at CSIRO, Australia’s national science agency, and Deputy CEO of the Australian eHealth Research Centre where she gained extensive experience in research strategy and translation. 

Jill is a member of the council of University of Southern Cross, contributing her skills in governance and strategic oversight. Her ability to navigate complex challenges and build consensus has made her a trusted advisor and valued contributor to organisational success.

Jill is deeply committed to leveraging technology and innovation to create sustainable, impactful solutions that benefit communities and industries alike. She is a passionate advocate for diversity in STEM, championing initiatives that empower underrepresented groups to thrive in science and technology fields.
