Data Working Group - Delving into Data Privacy

The NSSN invites data scientists and those concerned about privacy to the next Data Working Group meeting hosted by University of Sydney.

Our guest speaker is Sheila FitzPatrick, the President & Founder of FitzPatrick & Associates, a US based strategic global data privacy and protection compliance consulting firm.

Sheila will share her expertise in global data privacy/protection laws in over 160 countries, discussing both the similarities and the differences, and the importance of developing and sustaining a global approach to compliance. She will also address the role and challenges presented by new technologies, the importance of privacy due diligence, and the fundamental difference between privacy and security.

Michelle Martin, Data Governance Lead, Analytics Planning and Enterprise Data at the University of Sydney, will then provide the practical perspective presenting how University of Sydney is looking to leverage technology to support the growth in Data & Analytics, whilst also protecting data privacy in a landscape of ever-changing global data protection laws.
