NSSN 4th Ageing Forum

The 4th NSSN Ageing Forum will take place at NSW Parliament House on 30 October 2025 and is titled Ageing in Place with Dignity in a Better-Connected World.

At the NSSN we are exploring who pays for tech in care and how we integrate and deploy smart technology to augment the care workforce.

This includes how technology will be implemented within aged care packages, with a specific focus on federal policy changes, data operability and governance, and device integration – and ultimately address: who pays for tech in care and how does that integrate into the NSW Health system?

This forum is a timely response to federal aged care policy changes and proposes that consumer-centred design in aged care is critical. Technology is essential for dignity, independence, reducing hospitalisation and addressing workforce shortages and productivity. Health funding models must evolve to support real-world needs: this forum aims to shift the conversation: from if we include tech, to how we include tech.

The NSSN is collaborating with our industry, government and research partners to progress this conversation and advocate for technology adoption in real-world settings.

Confirmed speakers include:

  • Kathy Eagar AM, Adjunct Professor, UNSW and QUT

  • Sandra Cook, Branch Manager, Digital Solutions Division, Australian Digital Health Agency

  • Professor Ian Oppermann, NSSN Board, Commonwealth Data Standards Chair

  • Lucy Brogden, Director, Australian Unity

The Forum is being curated by our Ageing Grand Challenge Lead, Catherine Oates Smith.
