Dr Ramanathan Vaidyanathan
Research Theme Leader
Dr Ramanathan Vaidyanathan joined NSSN in July 2019 as Research Theme Leader (Fluidics).
Ram’s research background and expertise can be considered as multidisciplinary with translational research experience covering various disciplines including analytical chemistry, nanotechnology, biosensors, microfluidics and microfabrication technology. His qualifications include a PhD in Biomedical Engineering (The University of Queensland (UQ), Australia), Masters by Research in Biomedical Sciences (University of Glasgow, UK) and Bachelor of Technology in Biotechnology (Anna University, India).
During his post-doctoral stints at UQ and National University of Singapore (NUS), he had the opportunity to be part of dynamic research environments that provided numerous collaborative opportunities with experts across various disciplines, clinicians and industry personnel. This can be evidenced from his research projects and publications that span across various research disciplines. Collectively, these articles have received over 1540 citations till date.
Ram’s research interests lie in the development of novel diagnostic technologies and/or platforms that provide practical solutions to real-world problems. He hopes to utilize his expertise to focus on the development of platform technologies that can easily be translated into settings readily accessible by the end-user. In this regard, Ram will contribute towards a range of NSSN current and future initiatives, particularly in MedTech and Manufacturing.
